Appareo is a product development and technology company based in Fargo, North Dakota, specializing in software and hardware for industrial and commercial electronics. They research, develop, design, and manufacture tangible technology that utilizes AI, mechatronics, and innovative electronics designed to deliver exceptional customer value.
At Appareo, I was responsible for creating and delivering intuitive, engaging, and meaningful experiences for users interacting with the face of technology. With a high level of empathy for users, I advised solutions for complex problems driven by data and research for aviation, farming systems, and IoT.
Stratus Insight app EFB
Stratus Insight is a complete electronic flight bag (EFB) suite that includes AHRS with synthetic vision, TAWS, VFR sectional maps, IFR low/high charts, and geo-referenced approach plates for pilots.
My role in this project was to redesign the app and improve user experience. I created a reliable style guide, an entire icon library, high-fidelity wireframes, and prototypes for iPad and iPhone development.
Recon Wireless Blockage and Flow Monitor App
The Recon app uses the iPad in the tractor cockpit to connect wirelessly to acoustic sensors to monitor the seed flow for farming.
For this project, I designed a new demo mode for the app and improved the user experience for the setup and installation.

The Recon app has been available for some years now. Appareo was looking to redesign the user interface with the new user experience trends.
For this prototype, I wanted to bring the real world to the app so that the user could configure their equipment with basic knowledge reducing the learning curve to a minimum.
SmartConnect iCon app
The iCon app has been available for some years now. Appareo was looking to redesign the user interface with the new user experience trends.
For this prototype, the information displayed was prioritized. I removed the gradation and shadows and used a modern color pallet and more stylized icons to make the app look fresh.
